Description Granite Surface Plate 300 x 300 mm. An excellent surface plate – a flat, smooth, hard, wear-resistant reference surface for marking and layout of knives and other precision components. Commonly used in combination with a Digital Height Gauge for scribing the centre line on a blade before grinding bevels. Also great for lapping or sanding parts perfectly flat by sticking sandpaper or Rhynostick to it, or to act as a large sharpening surface. Also ideal for use in leatherwork as a Granite Tooling Slab – hard, flat stable surface when carving, stamping and punching leather for hand stitching. PLEASE NOTE: Each granite slab is at least 20 mm thick. While polished flat, exact thickness can vary between batches. Granite is a natural material so colour variation is not uncommon from slab to slab. Colours change regularly based on availability, and colour shown in pictures is not indicative of what colour you will recieve. Each slab is functionally flat and can be used as a surface plate for marking and layout, but has not been certified to a specific level of flatness.
